Nikolai Demidov’s revolutionary technique helps the actor to delve into the art of living on stage, it cultivates freedom and spontaneity, unleashes the creative impulses of the actor-creator and nurtures the actor’s confidence in his creative instincts and his truth as it is revealed through the free flow of his subconscious creativity.

Professor Andrei Malaev-Babel is the world’s leading expert on the Demidov technique. Over the past decade, his systematic and dedicated work on the Demidov School has been the touchstone of reviving Demidov’s approach and inspiring enthusiastic proponents of his unique technique worldwide. Andrei Malaev-Babel gave voice again to the disarming techniques of an incredible theatre pedagogue, who diligently remained the best-kept secret of Russian theater for more than 70 years.

Courses and seminars

Workshops and extended courses held by Demidov Studio Athens will be guided by DSA director Vicky Georgiadou and curated by professor Andrei Malaev Babel, Head of the International Demidov Association.

Demidov Studio Athens

Vicky Georgiadou is a certified teacher of the first 3-year Teacher Certification Program of the International Demidov Association and founder of Demidov Studio Athens, which has started offering, since September 2021, regular courses and intensives on the organic technique of Nikolai Demidov.

Demidov Studio Athens is the official Greek chapter of the International Demidov Association, which currently includes four more chapters worldwide, in London, Vienna, Chicago and Moscow.

International Demidov Association

The International Demidov Association, headed by Andrei Malaev-Babel, unites artists, acting studios and schools based in the School of Acting, pioneered by the Russian master-teacher, Nikolai Demidov. It runs certification programs and courses, produces international workshops and curates Demidov-based programs worldwide.

In 2020, the International Demidov Association and professor Andrei Malaev-Babel offered the first three-year Teacher Certification Program, which was completed in May 2023. Teacher Certification Program aims to train teachers around the world, capable of conveying the principles, the values and the ways of this organic technique, that loves and respects the actor and his creative process like no other in the history of acting.

In 2021, Teacher Certification Program has been expanded to 4 years, to closely mirror the inaugural two-year Acting Certificate Program, instituted the same year. The Demidov Acting Certificate course is the first and only opportunity, outside of Professor Malaev-Babel’s Florida graduate studio, to develop and habituate unparalleled creative instincts, developed by the Demidov School of Acting. It also offers participants an unprecedented experience of the compete Demidov acting curriculum, from its foundation (Demidov etudes) to working on a role and a play.
